Locally based responses

to HIV and AIDS

The organization is working with the ministries of health, ministries of Education and local partners to apply innovative approaches to improve the urban HIV/AIDS, Tuberculosis, SRH/FP/NCDs knowledge.

 

And to scale up best practices to prevent new HIV infections, strengthen HIV counseling and testing services, prevention of mother to child transmission, behavior change programmes, improve basic health care services for people living with HIV/AIDS and roll-out community ART including Test and Start.

In March to May 2018, AMICAALL partnered with ICAP working on providing HTS to Malkerns population with emphasis to reach more Men.

Insika

In the year 2017/2018; 3,610 beneficiaries aged 2-18 years have been provided with food, early childhood care and development (ECCD) in the Social centres. The program has a total of 86 teachers who are regularly trained to provide the service.

In 2018 AMICAALL received funding support from the USG PEPFAR to collaborate with PACT in the “Insika Project” to implement HIV prevention programs for OVC and Adolescent Girls and Young Women.

AMICAALL has trained one hundred and sixty-nine 169 volunteers on Child protection, abuse case reporting and offering psychosocial support to abuse survivors. One hundred and seventy-nine (179) counseling sessions have been provided to OVC’s and survivors of abuse and violence.

The Project established a database for all men initiated on ART to monitor adherence and provide support to ART clients.

The organization also implements HIV prevention activities which target children 0-9 years, adolescents 10-19 and 20-29yrs. These population groups are reached through different platforms which include community dialogues, mobilizations, in-school youth club formations, youth dialogues and through sporting activities.

Strategic Development Process

The AMICAALL strategic plan was developed for all stakeholders, government and non-governmental organizations operating within urban settings to use as a platform for building a consensus to promote health and social services. The strategic plan is in line with international and national health and social visions to promote, prevent and rehabilitate for the better attainment of health and social services.
